1. Education Specialist
Job Location: Dar es Salaam – Country Office
Employment Type: Contractual
Salary: Negotiable
Purpose of the Role:
The Education Specialist will manage and provide technical leadership for the AIM Education Pathway in Tanzania. The role involves:
- Programme planning and coordination
- Oversight of implementation
- Capacity building of staff
- Budget and partnership management
- Ensuring safeguarding is integrated across all activities
This position reports to the AIM Program Manager and works closely with BRAC International’s Early Childhood Development & Education team, serving as the technical focal point for education.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Programme Design & Management
- Lead planning, coordination, and implementation of the AIM Education Pathway to achieve measurable impact.
- Adapt programme design and manuals to the local context.
- Strengthen coordination with schools, communities, and government authorities.
- Manage budgets, compliance, and timely delivery of education interventions.
- Supervise and coach technical officers and staff to ensure quality, gender-responsive delivery.
2. Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL)
- Ensure quality programming through robust planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Collect and report accurate data against agreed indicators.
- Work with MEL and knowledge management teams to gather lessons learned and best practices.
- Conduct regular field visits to verify programme performance.
3. Stakeholder Coordination & Advocacy
- Engage with schools, district/national education officials, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Obtain government approvals required for programme implementation.
- Coordinate with internal support teams (HR, Finance, Procurement, IT, Communications).
- Support donor reviews, external engagement, and advocacy networks promoting girls’ education.
4. Grants & Reporting
- Monitor programme performance and mitigate risks.
- Coordinate with Grants, MEL, and Finance teams to ensure timely and quality narrative and financial reports.
- Manage programme database updates and documentation of knowledge and learnings.
5. Team Management
- Support and supervise AIM education staff, ensuring motivation, capacity building, and performance management.
- Manage external consultants and partners supporting the education pathway.
- Provide content to the communications team for showcasing programme success.
6. Safeguarding
- Ensure team safety from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation.
- Promote and implement safeguarding policies and reporting procedures.
- Act as a key resource for safeguarding awareness and compliance.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Education:
- Master’s degree in Education, Development Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of work experience, including 3 years in managerial/leadership roles in education programme implementation or international development.
- Experience working with marginalized communities, especially in education and women’s empowerment.
- Proven project management, supervision, administration, and logistics experience.
- Strong proposal writing and budgeting skills.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and representation.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong financial data interpretation and reporting abilities.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
