Through an integrated and holistic approach, the initiative provides scalable economic development opportunities to help AGYW fulfill their aspirations, achieve sustainable livelihoods, and participate in advocacy efforts.

1. Program Assistant – 223
Job Locations: Mbeya, Iringa, Tanga, Dodoma, Morogoro, Mwanza, Dar es Salaam & Tabora
Employment Type: Contractual
Salary: Negotiable
Purpose of the Role
The Program Assistant (PA) will be responsible for implementing field-level activities under the programme’s three key pillars:
- Social & Economic Empowerment (Livelihood & Education Pathways)
- Enabling Environment for AGYW
- Community Engagement & Advocacy
The PA will manage the participant selection process, set up and oversee clubs, supervise mentors, coordinate training, and ensure programme documentation, data collection, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Programme Implementation
- Lead community-level inception activities (participant and club selection, mentor onboarding, community mobilization, value chain mapping).
- Manage and supervise all club activities, ensuring programme targets are met.
- Conduct household and programme-related surveys.
- Follow up with participants to minimize attrition and prepare attendance/dropout reports.
2. Livelihoods Pathway
- Support participants in livelihood option selection and provide technical and entrepreneurship training.
- Conduct home visits and follow-ups to ensure asset security, income growth, and confidence building.
- Facilitate VSLA formation and ensure at least 80% of participants transition to formal microfinance institutions.
3. Education Pathway
- Select and support participants in education pathways.
- Distribute school-related resources and monitor attendance.
- Support linkages between enabling environment activities and school management.
4. Enabling Environment
- Form and train youth development committees (YDCs).
- Map local service providers and facilitate GBV/SRH referrals.
- Support gender equality and social inclusion activities.
5. Coordination & Reporting
- Select, train, and supervise mentors, ensuring continuous capacity development.
- Manage programme data using manual and digital platforms (BInsight MIS).
- Prepare and submit timely financial and programme reports.
- Participate in monthly coordination meetings and flag operational issues.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of team members from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation.
- Promote and implement safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Report any safeguarding incidents promptly and encourage others to do the same.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate/Diploma in Social Studies, Community Development, Gender and Development, HR, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the international development sector.
- Experience working with marginalized communities in areas such as education, microfinance, livelihoods, agriculture, food security, or women’s empowerment.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong community mobilization, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Computer literacy and ability to use mobile devices and digital reporting tools (e.g., KoBo, SurveyCTO, CommCare).
- Ability to travel extensively within the country.
- Integrity, credibility, and commitment to BRAC’s mission.
- Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills.
